Last week I had the nice surprise of seeing Peggy Shi. She came back to visit and tell me about her first year experience at Rhode Island School of Design. She is doing very well and working hard! Here is some of her work:

Victoria Ferrer-BB class of 10' is currently a student at School of Visual Arts. Here are some of her recent photographs (actually they are of Alex Blaiotta another BB alum). Interview below:
Victoria Ferrer- Sophomore Photography student at SVA
Q:What do you like most about SVA? A:The faculty are all working professionals so it gives you an inside look into the industries. Also, you are always networking with other artists.
Q: How did BB prepare you for success at SVA? A:Going into the photo department at SVA, BBHS really prepared me with black and white film and printing in the darkroom. I was able to go into freshmen year feelings confident in my ability.
Q: What do you plan on doing after graduation? A; After college I would love to work at a fashion magazine and work my way up to being a photo editor.
Thank you so much Victoria!!

Becca Sweetbaum- BB class of 09'. Currently attending Syracuse University for fashion design.
Athena Lo- BB class of 08'. Currently attending Rhode Island School of Design. Recently I got a chance to ask Athena about how it's going for her. This is what she said:
"I'm currently attending Rhode Island School of Design, majoring in Industrial Design. This concentration focuses on product and system design, as well as graphic work and an intensive study of craft. I will be graduating in 2012, and plan on continuing on to graduate school for Architecture. With knowledge in both fields, I hope to design ways with which people can live better and more responsibly with the environment. Thus far, this program has been a very difficult transition, at least from Foundation year at RISD. The first year of Industrial Design is an especially consuming and harsh period of skill building in drawing and model making in various materials. While it is very intense, it is also growing to be a more enjoyable process because of the amount of skills I have acquired in such a short time that we, as ID majors, are now being able to apply in freer, more creative projects."

Alex Cohen- BB class of 07'. Currently attending Rhode Island School of Design for Graphic Design and he will graduate in 2011. Below are some images of his work. I also got a chance to have a little Q&A with Alex:
Q: What do you want to do after graduation? A: Ideally, start a small design firm in the South of France. Or conversely, go wherever the wind blows me.
Q: Are you enjoying your program? A: Very much so.
Q: Any art school revelations to share? A: I've learned that there are an incredible number of ways to look at the world. Just because I may see the world through a polarizing filter, doesn't mean my friend Jack can't see the same world through a cross- screen. It's mind blowing how many responses you can get to a single assignment prompt.
Thank you for sharing with us Alex! Below are some examples of work he made in his first year.
